Visual impairment awareness training (viat) is essential for all organisations to meet the needs of people who are blind or partially sighted, whether they are customers, clients or employees. Due to the Disability Discrimination Act, Service providers are legally obliged to make their services accessible to people with disabilities. Our training will help you understand the needs of Blind and partially sighted people and improve the service you offer.

Disability Equality Training
A training course which looks at disability/Visual Impairment from an equalities perspective using the Social Model framework to promote good practice and prevent discrimination/litigation under the DDA.
Visual Impairment Diversity Training
The Visual Impairment Diversity Training course looks at the issues of exclusion, marginalisation, prejudice and discrimination. Examining how this impacts on visually impaired people and other groups for example older people.
Visual Impairment Etiquette / Good Practice Training
This course is designed for businesses who wish to access the spending power of disabled people. By exploring appropriate language use and good practice issues you therefore make your service more accessible for disabled people.
Community Awareness Sessions
We can provide short informal presentations to community organisations, groups and schools. With practical demonstrations of the problems faced by visually impaired people and how these are addressed. Educational resources are supplied to schools for future use.
Visual Impairment Short Courses
This is a short two hour session focusing on a particular issue. We can deliver courses on issues such as language and communication, the Disability Discrimination Act, accessible information or the barriers faced by visually impaired people and how to address these.
