Reflections On The Year by Jonathon Miller, Chairman SITE

Christmas Tree In The SITE Office

All our best wishes for the festive season and the New Year.

The Management Committee, staff and volunteers at SITE would like to extend the greetings of the season to you all and thank everyone who helped contribute to the activities of the charity during the year.

SITE is determined to make a difference to the lives of our customers. For people living with sight loss the world can be a tough place and that is why we aim to make a difference to peoples’ lives through our services.

Continued cuts to services, reduced income, the risk of isolation and depression all impact on the quality of life for someone with a sight problem. This year we have worked to ensure people are supported to live the independent lives they choose and that society is a more inclusive place.

Our job is to make sure people get the right mix of skills and tools to make confident choices. This year we have worked not only with our customers in a group and individual basis but have engaged with many organisations to raise awareness of our services and the need to provide people with sight loss supportive and focused interventions.

This year we extended our services to the communities where our customers live by providing home visits principally in the area of assistive technology support.

I would like to thank our volunteers whose time allows us to deliver vital support services, thank you to the individuals and organisations who have provided much needed financial support and thank you to our dedicated staff for their efforts throughout the year.
