Scottish War Blinded New Centre

Scottish War Blinded’s are for all ex-service men and women, whether they lost their sight because of age, an accident or ill health, or during a military conflict. The charity is opening the Hawkhead Centre in Paisley, which will help military veterans from across the West of Scotland benefit from a wide range of specialist support. It will also play a vital role in connecting veterans to each other so they can share experiences, make new friends and feel a sense of comradeship.
Veterans who visit the Hawkhead centre will receive one-to-one support and skills training to help them adapt to their sight loss, gain confidence and improve their mobility.
Facilities at the centre include:
·         art, crafts and woodwork studio
·         IT suite for improving computing skills
·         fully equipped gym
·         independent living skills kitchen for cookery courses.

You can also find out more about the Hawkhead Centre at an Information Day on Saturday 3 June from 11am – 6pm at Paisley Town Hall. There will also be information about forthcoming job opportunities at the centre.
